At Forfar on the 17th day of March, 1879 in the presence of Alexander Robertson, Esquire, Advocate, Sheriff Substitute of the County of Forfar. Compeared Mr John Sheill, Solicitor, Brechin, as procurator and given in the Inventory and Oath and Settlement after copied to be recorded in the Register of Inventories and kept at Forfar for the Commisssariot of Forfar in terms of Law and whereof the tenor follows viz: Inventory of the Personal Estate wheresoever situated of Alexander Jamieson Builder, Brechin, who died on the on the 8th day of February 1879

At Brechin on the 15th day of Mach 1879, in the presence of Thomas Ogilvy Esquire, one of Her Majesties Justice of Peace for the County of Angus, Appeared John Lamb, Manufacturer, Brechin, Executor of Deceased Alexander Jamieson, Builder, Brechin, who being solemnly sworn and examined, deposed that the said Alexander Jamieson died married at Brechin , domiciled in Scotland, upon the 8th. day of February, 1879. and the deponent was entered upon the possession and management of the deceaseds Estate as Executor nominated by him along with Mrs Christine Watson or Jamieson, his wife , and David Scott, of, Newington, Brechin in a Trust Disposition and Settlement executed by him upon the 13th day of August 1876, and along with codicil dated the 7th day of February, 1879 registered in the Sheriff Court Books of Forfarshire on the 19th day of February, 1879 an extract thereof is now enscribed and signed by the deponent and the said Thomas Ogilvy J.P. of this date as relative hereto that the Deponent does not know of any Testamentary Settlement or writing relative to the disposal of the deceased's personal Estate or Effects or any part thereof other than the said settlement and codicil: That the foregoing Inventory signed by the deponent and said Thomas Ogilvy J.P. as relative hereto is a full and complete Inventory of the Personal Estate and Effects of the said deceased Alexander Jamieson. wheresoever situated and belonging ordinarily to him beneficially at the time of his death in so far as the (cont)

(the) same has come to the Deponents knowledge. That the Deponent does not know of any money or property belonging to the deceased liable to the duty imposed by the Acts Victoria Chapter 15 and 23 & 24 Victoria Chapter 8 that the value at this date of the said personal estate and effects situated in Scotland including the proceeds accrued thereon down to this date is fifteen hundred pounds Sterling and does not exceed £2000 Sterling. That confirmation of the said personal estate is required in favour of the Deponent and the said Christina Watson or Jamieson and David Scott, all which is truth as the Deponent shall answer to God.

At Forfar on the 19th day of February, 1879, the deed herein after engrossed was presented for registration in the Sheriff Court Books of the County of Forfarshire for presentation and is registered in the said books as follows:

I Alexander Jamieson, Builder, Brechin, with the view of settling my affairs and for providing for the disposal of my means and Estate after my decease, to hereby give grant, assign and dispone to and in favour of Mrs Christina Watson or Jamieson, my wife, David Scott, of, Newington, Brechin, and John Lamb, Manufacturer, Brechin, and their legal successors in office and the heirs of the longest liver of them as Trustees and trustee for the end uses and purposes after mentioned and to their assignees of the said trustees or their foresaids all my Estate, heritable and moveable, real and personal owing and belonging to me at my decease with the rents, interest, profits and produce and writs titles and vouchers hereof. Declaring that these present are granted by me in trust only for the following use and purposes after mentioned.
First for payment of all my just and lawful debts, and funeral expenses of executing this trust.
Second: My Trustees shall give over to the said Christina Watson or Jamieson, my wife, my whole household effects, conforma to inventory to be used and enjoyed by her all the days of her life
Third: My Trustees shall pay the said Christina Watson or Jamieson, during her life the whole annual income of my Estate for the maintenance of herself and of my sons, so long as they shall live in family with her, including their education. The same not to be affectable by her debts or deeds or attachable by diligence of her residue between my sons equally and in the event of either dying without lawful issue, the whole shall belong to the survivor.
Farther it is my word that my son William get my property numbers 3 & 5 Bank Street, Brechin and that fronting South Esk Street, presently occupied by one with garden immediately behind same, the price or value of same as fixed by my trustees to be held as part of his share of the residue and in the like manner my son David shall get my property number 57 South Esk Street, with the garden. (garden) immediately behind same, at present occupied by me, and my trustees shall grant conveyances to them of these properties accordingly and I hereby nominate my trustees to be my sole executors or executor and to be tutors and curators of my sons during their respective pupillarities and minorities and I also hereby give them power of sale by public roup or private bargain and of compromise and submission and declare that they shall be entitled to the fullest powers and exemptions usually conferred in similar cases according to the most liberal interpretation and I hereby revoke all former settlements mortis causa or other testantary writing previously excluded by me and I reserve the right and I consent of registration hereof for preservation:- In witness hereof these presents written on this and the preceding page by James Craig, Solicitor, Brechin, at Brechin on the 13th day of August 1876 before these witnesses the said: James Craig and Jessie Sharp, dressmaker, Dundee, at present residing in Brechin.

(Here follows separate codicil):- I Alexander Jamieson, Builder, Brechin do hereby make the following codicil to my Trust Deposition and Settlement viz:- It is my wish and I hereby direct The Trustees under my trust deposition and settlement in addition to the provisions already conceived by me in his favour in the said Trust Disposition and Settlement to convey to my son David at the time the other property left him in my settlement falls to be conveyed to him the property in South Esk Street, Brechin, purchased by me from the Trustees of the late Andrew Jervise Esquire and presently occupied by William Christie, Upholsterer and should the conveyance in my favour of the said property not be executed before my death the same shall be taken by my trustees in favour of themselves and the price paid out of my moveable property and hereafter they shall hold the same in the way and manner directed in my settlement as regards my other heritable property, my trustees hereby being directed to convey the property herby left my son David to him at the time the other property hereby left him in my said settlement falls to be conveyed to him and I declare that these presents shall have the same force and effect as if they formed part of my settlement and I consent to the registration hereof for preservation in witness whereof I have subscribed these presents written by James Craig Solicitor, Brechin on the 7th day of February 1879, before the witnesses John Mackie , senior, Surgeon, Brechin. & James Craig

At Brechin on the 15th day of March 1879, referred to in the Oath to the inventory of the personal Estate of Alexander Jamieson within design emitted by me of this date
